Frequently Asked Questions

Do you carry liability insurance?

Yes. We carry a $1,000,000 general liability policy and can provide a proof of insurance certificate upon request.

Do you provide references?

References from clients are available upon request. We are proud of our reputation and want you to hear it first hand from our satisfied clients.

Which areas do you serve and do you travel?

We serve all areas of Southern California.  You can find us anywhere from LA to San Diego to Riverside or Palm Desert on  any given weekend.  For further destinations such as Las Vegas, Palm Springs, or  Santa Barbara, additional traveling charges will apply.

When do you arrive to set up for an event?

We arrive 1.5 - 2 hours in advance to set up and prepare for the event start time.  For larger productions requiring extensive lighting and/ or additional sound, we will arrive much earlier to insure a successful event.

What does an OC DJ wear to an event?

For equipment load and set up, your DJ will be dressed casually for comfort or possibly a snazzy little getup from the GAP.   For the actual event, your DJ will be dressed appropriately for the occasion.  For weddings, our DJ's wear a black on black look consisting of black tux pants, black French cuff shirt, black tie and vest, with black jacket and nice black shoes.  For casual events, your DJ will wear nice jeans and a button up collared shirt.  For specialty themed parties like a 70's disco party or sock hop, our DJ will dress as you wish.  After all, it is your party!

What kind of music do you play?

With the technological advancement in the computer and DJ industry, we no longer have to carry 10 tons of vinyl to satisfy your every music desire. Therefore, we play a vast variety of music genres including but not limited to:  Top 40, Hip-Hop, Rap, Rock, Classic Rock, Latin (Banda, Cumbia, Merengue, Salsa, etc.), 60's - 90's, Disco, New Wave, Country, Classical, Smooth Jazz, Swing, Motown, R&B, Adult Alternative, Slow Jamz, Christian, Gospel, The Rat Pack, Reggae, Hawaiian, Caribbean, Electonica,  Lounge, etc...

Do you accept requests?

Yes! Unless specifically requested not to, your OC DJ will accepts requests (within reason) from your guests on the night of your event.

What if I want to request a song that is not on your list or in your music library?

With our extensive music library, odds are we already have your request. If perhaps your request is not currently in our music library, we accept music requests as long as we receive them at least two weeks prior to your event.  This gives us enough time to find the songs, make sure that they are the correct recording/version and prepare for your event with ample time for music updates and adjustments.  In addition, you are always welcome to provide us with your own customized CDs for your OC DJ to play at the event. And lastly, we do provide an input for ipod or iphone should someone have a special request from their own library at the event.

Can we meet our DJ/MC in-person before the event?

Yes!   If you have referred to the DJ profiles section of our website, viewed pictures of our DJs, read their bios, reviewed their testimonials, and are still not sure who you want to DJ your event, call our staff and ask to set up a face-to-face meeting. Possibly a phone meeting or internet video chat may sufficiently put your mind and mood at ease.  The bottom line is that we want you to be completely satisfied with your OC DJ!

What are your booking/payment terms?

In order to book and reserve an OC DJ, we must receive your signed contract and 50% (of your event total) deposit by the deposit due date.  For weddings, the remaining balance is due 2 weeks prior to your event in order to confirm the event. For corporate events, schools, and various other events, payment terms may vary.  Call a member of our staff today!

What forms of payment do you accept?

OC DJ accepts cash payments, checks/cashiers checks, money orders, and Visa or Mastercard through PayPal only.

What is your cancellation policy?

The deposit is non-refundable as stated in the contract as the entertainer will be blocking-out the contracted stated date from future performances.   As a professional courtesy, we do allow you to apply the deposit to a future event within one year of cancellation. You may also apply your deposit amount to a friend or relative's party.

What is your overtime policy?

Your contract will state the cost of each overtime hour.  Overtime is payable to the DJ/MC at your event (cash) upon your approval for overtime.

Is it customary to tip?

If you feel your DJ/MC does a great job, gratuities are always greatly appreciated.
